SOUTH Australian sheep studs stormed Sheepvention at the Hamilton Showgrounds in Victoria earlier this week, bringing home a swag of ribbons and impressing many prospective Victorian clients.

The figures stacked up for Bundara Downs White Suffolk stud, Western Flat, winning the interbreed Lambplan performance class, while another SA stud, Leenala Poll Dorsets, Naracoorte, placed second.

Sheepvention president Simon Menzel said crowd numbers were similar to last year, making it again one of the biggest attendances in the event's 31-year history.

About 22,000 people came through the gates over the two days which he said was a fantastic effort for a town the size of Hamilton.
